Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman
Born on March 1, 1951, Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman is a distinguished Bangladeshi educator and philosopher. He currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Global University Bangladesh (GUB), located in Barishal, and as the Chairperson of GLOBAL VISTA LIMITED, a leading consultancy firm based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He is a retired professor from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Dhaka, where he held numerous key academic and administrative roles, including:
- Acting Provost of Sir A. F. Rahman Hall
- Head of the Philosophy Department
- Director of the Govinda Dev Philosophy Research Center
- Director of the Ethical Development Center
Dr. Anisuzzaman completed his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and M.Phil. degrees in Philosophy from Dhaka University. In 1988, he received a Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. in Philosophical Anthropology at the University of Wales, UK. He later undertook postdoctoral research in Comparative Theology at Andrews University, USA (1994), followed by research under a Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of London (1997), and at King’s College London.
He also served as the President of the Bangladesh Chapter of the South Asian Fraternity, contributing significantly to regional intellectual collaboration.
In 2019, he was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of GUB, and was reappointed in 2023 for a second term. Continuing his legacy of leadership and youth empowerment, Dr. Anisuzzaman became the Chairperson of GLOBAL VISTA LIMITED in January 2025—a dynamic consultancy company committed to student visas, work abroad programs, and global language education for the youth.
In recognition of his intellectual contributions, he was honored with the prestigious ‘Nimbarka Ratna’ title from India.
